Respected CHAS accreditation gained by Ecl-ips

Trusted health and safety accreditation achieved

ChasChas

Ecl-ips has once again committed itself to high health and safety standards by gaining the respected CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) accreditation.

Our certification proves that we have demonstrated compliance with the CHAS standards which are in line with UK Health and Safety regulations and the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) core criteria. The CHAS accreditation also shows that Ecl-ips has complied with the Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations 2015, which are governed by the UK’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Providing proof that we meet core health and safety standards

CHAS was one of the founder members of the SSIP scheme forum which acts as an umbrella organisation to facilitate mutual recognition between health and safety assessment schemes wherever it is practicable to do so. This was part of a government effort to support SMEs so that potential buyers of their services could more easily identify when firms were meeting core health and safety standards and to save costs by avoiding unnecessary duplication or differing Health & Safety assessment requirements, wherever possible.

SSIP assessments are all judged on core criteria approved by HSE. These core criteria describe what it means for a construction business to comply with basic health and safety law. The Core Criteria were published by HSE in Appendix 4 of the CDM 2007 Approved Code of Practice. With the new CDM 2015 Regulations, there was no immediate publication of an Approved Code of Practice, and the SSIP Forum have agreed to adopt the Core Criteria to become part of the SSIP Terms of Reference.

CDM aims to improve health and safety in the industry by helping companies to:

  • sensibly plan the work so the risks involved are managed from start to finish
  • have the right people for the right job at the right time
  • cooperate and coordinate their work with others
  • have the right information about the risks of a job and how they are being managed
  • communicate this information effectively to those who need to know
  • consult and engage with workers about the risks and how they are being managed

By achieving this accreditation Ecl-ips aims to demonstrate to all our customers and suppliers that we can be trusted when our engineers are on site installing and maintaining CCTV, access control or any of our server room monitoring solutions.
