We are once again supporting a fantastic cause by sponsoring and fielding a team at the Edward’s Trust Annual Golf Day at Hearsall Golf Club in Coventry on 6th July.
Now in its 17th year the charity golf day has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds since it was first started by Edward’s Trust ambassador, Richard Page. We have been regularly supporting the golf day since 2019. The event begins with a shotgun start in this Stableford competition. There are prizes available for individual golfers and teams. To raise further funds there is also a raffle and auction where there are some great prizes to be won.
Richard continues to organise the event to raise funds for the charity’s work supporting bereaved parents, children and young people in the West Midlands. Edward’s Trust was set up in 1989 by Peter and Hilary Dent in memory of their son Edward, who died aged 7 of cancer at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The golf day was set up after the Edward’s Trust supported Richard, and his family, following the death of his daughter, Natalie, at the age of 22. He has said that at time, “It was like part of me was ripped out. I was lost, angry and confused. I thought I’d never stop the tears. I couldn’t work and parts of me just shut down. Edward’s Trust helped me, helped my family and gave me the tools to forge a new life. I will always be grateful for Edward’s Trust.”
Aaron Kernaghan, the managing director of Ecl-ips, will lead the company team once again. Aaron, himself a keen golfer, said: “Edwards Trust provides vital services to families across the West Midlands. Ecl-ips likes to support local charities and sponsoring this Golf Day is a great way for us to do that.”
