We have again committed ourselves to meeting excellent health and safety standards by gaining our SafeContractor and CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) accreditations.
These accreditations have been achieved following regular audits and training provided by health and safety consultants, Sentinel Safety Solutions, who we have worked with for the last 10 years. Using the software developed by Sentinel, Safetybox, has also enabled us to manage relevant documents and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
We have been SafeContractor approved since 2015. The accreditation includes our CCTV and access control, installation and maintenance work, which includes installing door entry systems. This covers activities our engineers may do as part of their work including using ladders, mobile elevated working platforms and equipment requiring isolation from the electrical supply to be made safe.
Being SafeContractor accredited means we are on an approved list of contractors which gives our customers, and prospective clients, the peace of mind that they are choosing a company that takes health and safety compliance seriously.
We are one of 36,000 contractors that are part of the SafeContractor, accreditation scheme, which is run by the Alcumus Group. Businesses who want to use our services are able to find us as part of their membership of its Contractor Management System.
CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) accreditation
Our Veriforce CHAS accreditation as a construction contractor means we are compliant with its standards which meet with the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) core criteria, which is approved by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), and UK Health & Safety legislation.
SSIP was set up in 2009 as an umbrella body to reduce occupational health and safety assessment duplication and ensure mutual recognition between schemes. It aims to reduce the burden on small contractors, in particular, when tendering for contracts and demonstrating health and safety compliance. Veriforce CHAS is a co-founder member of the scheme.
The HSE has a permanent non-voting role as a co-opted member on the SSIP Forum, and uses this role to ensure that an annual independent audit of the processes employed by each of the Member Schemes is carried out.
The SSIP Portal is free for potential customers to access details of the 84,000 suppliers that are registered with one its members and check that they are compliant with the SSIP core criteria. Separately the CHAS portal contains details of over 32.500 contractors which are registered with its scheme.
