Ecl-ips at 20: David Harris

Experienced project engineer is a key part of the team

David Harris, known to the team as Dave, is an experienced engineer with an extensive background in IT and AV. Since joining Ecl-ips as a project engineer in November 2019 he has expanded his knowledge by training in the Avigilon CCTV solutions, access control systems, real-time monitoring appliances and, more recently, the intruder alarm systems we provide.

As soon as Dave joined the operations team his passion for the work, willingness to get on with a job and his methodical approach was apparent. He is also well-known for his calmness on a job and providing a good service to our customers.

Our project engineers on site have to be able to communicate with clients and deal with last-minute challenges and changes. He tries to ensure that we deal sensitively with our wide-range of customers and that they are at the heart of all his decisions.

Prior to that Dave worked as a field engineer for a major telecommunications company for almost 10 years. He has previously had experience in a number of engineering and managerial roles. He started out as an apprentice doing an HNC in mechanical engineering and has subsequently gained additional qualifications in IT.

His broad range of experience and technical expertise mean that he has been given more supervisory duties on site recently to ensure projects run smoothly.

Across the whole Ecl-ips team Dave is known for his friendliness and having a good sense of humour. He is great company at work social events and is a good source of office banter, especially on a Friday when most of the operations team are usually back at our base in Waterside House in Stoke Prior near Bromsgrove.

In his spare time Dave likes to travel and is a keen sportsman, having represented England at two totally different sports. He continues to be a keen player of bowls. He recently became a father for the second time so is now Dad to two boys and loves to spend time with his family.
