Getting business, education and other areas of life back to running outside of a Coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown is important for our financial and mental health.
However, to do this means managing the risk of spreading Coronavirus and taking steps to reduce transmission. Owners and business managers will be keen to protect their staff while school heads will also be looking to ensure students and parents are kept safe.
Contact Tracing Capability Available
Ecl-ips is keen to offer existing and new customers solutions that will prove effective through our partner, Avigilon. Already clients who use the Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) and Avigilon Control Center (ACC) CCTV system can take advantage of its technology to assist in contact tracing so that those who may have interacted with person infected with Covid-19 can be informed and take appropriate action.
There could, for example, be an employee at a distribution centre who becomes infected and then has to self-isolate. Managers or security staff at the site can use the ACM system to produce an identity correlation report which can be used to identify doors that have been used by the employee and the date and time of that access as contaminated handles could pose a risk to transmission. Following this, all other members of staff that also entered or left via those doors within the timeframe that the employee used them can be contacted.
The CCTV system can also be used to track people within the building that may have come into contact with that employee. If users also have identity search or appearance search within their ACC system, they will be able to pick out the infected employee more easily.
Within the UK concerns about the risks of reopening schools could be mitigated by using this technology. Ecl-ips has an established track record of working with schools to help with their security and safeguarding obligations and will be able to demonstrate how these measures can protect staff and pupils more effectively against COVID-19.
Analytics to provide alerts on social distancing and face masks
In June Avigilon will launch additional embedded analytics within the H5A camera that will identify breaches of social distancing guidance. If these are avoidable breaches then this system could be integrated with an audible warning to those involved. Ecl-ips has expertise in integrating the Avigilon CCTV system with IP enabled speakers and a SIP microphone as part of its school lockdown solution, we can now easily adapt this to these new requirements.
The technology can also demonstrate to those managing commercial spaces or other buildings like schools or healthcare settings where there are potential bottlenecks and so social distancing will be difficult. This will allow managers to make changes within the buildings, for example, by only allowing people to walk in one direction through a corridor, to reduce the numbers having to be in close proximity to each other.
From June the video analytics will also be to detect those wearing or not wearing face masks or face coverings. Again, if a site, such as a healthcare setting, wishes to enforce the wearing of masks the automatic alerts generated will provide the opportunity for integration with an audible warning system.
Ecl-ips can provide upgrades to existing Avigilon systems
Ecl-ips would be pleased to work with existing or new customers in order to upgrade their existing Avigilon CCTV system and install the H5A cameras necessary for the additional analytical functions required for the social distancing and face mask detection. Additionally, any organisation looking for solutions that will help them respond effectively to COVID-19 can get in touch. Avigilon Control Center and its cameras are an advanced solution and we are established suppliers and installers.
As specialists in the Avigilon, and other access control systems, we can also work with you to establish access control solutions that can help with contact tracing and help to reduce the level of human interaction if people enter your site without compromising security.
The risks from Covid-19 pose challenges for all organisations looking to get working safely but Ecl-ips is ready to help you do just that so please contact us for advice.
